Daikin Europe N.V. launches efficient high temperature heating version of Daikin Altherma for residential use
(15/05/2009)
Daikin Europe N.V. has further expanded its award winning Daikin Altherma heat pump range. Following its low temperature and monobloc versions, Daikin Europe N.V. announces an Daikin Altherma high temperature air-to-water residential version – Daikin Altherma HT – across Western Europe. With the launch of this high temperature heating system (with optional domestic hot water preparation) expected this summer, Daikin has set its sights on the huge replacement market for heat pumps. Unique features in Daikin Altherma HT’s pair application are its efficient two-step compression that guarantees water temperatures in radiators to 80°C without the need for a booster heater, its operation at outdoor temperatures down to -25°C, the possible integration of its intelligent hydro-box and water tank, and night mode (reducing sound levels by up to 9 dBA).
Daikin Altherma HT: high efficiency and high temperature heat
With the European launch in the summer of its Daikin Altherma HT residential high temperature heat pump system for heating only (optional domestic hot water), Daikin is addressing the growing need for a high-efficiency, sustainable heating system to replace existing oil or gas boilers. Daikin Altherma HT is the only existing heat pump system guaranteeing leaving water temperatures up to 80°C, making it possible and efficient to use with existing radiators. Daikin will launch a pair version (1 outdoor unit and 1 indoor unit or hydro-box) of Daikin Altherma HT, capable of operation at outdoor temperatures down to -25°C.
Double heat pump eliminates need for booster heater
Daikin Altherma HT is equipped with a double heat pump, extracting thermal energy from the ambient air and delivering the generated heat via a water circuit (radiators). The first heat pump – located in the outdoor unit – provides an intermediate temperature source for the second heat pump in the indoor unit, which heats the water to 80°C. This 80°C leaving water temperature is reached purely on the basis of thermodynamic principles – without an additional booster heater – making Daikin Altherma HT extremely efficient. Both heat pumps are inverter based, adding to the system’s efficiency.
Optional domestic hot water, installation flexibility
Additional features include the system’s optional domestic hot water preparation. Since the system efficiently heats water to 80°C, the two water tank volumes offered – 200 and 260 litres – can easily provide between 400 and 500 litres of water for bathing or showering. With the heat pump system operating at a continuous high temperature level, it can also provide thermal disinfection of legionella without a booster heater. To save space, the hot water tank can be mounted on the system’s intelligent hydro-box, which includes all hydraulic parts (indoor heat pump, expansion tank, shut off and 3-way valves). The stylish design of the floor mounted indoor unit, as well as its silent operation in night mode (reducing sound levels by 3dBA) add to the system’s attractiveness. An intelligent remote controller ensures optimum operation and comfort.
