New Daikin VRV and Chiller Plant in India
Daikin Europe announces the establishment by parent company Daikin Industries Ltd. of a new factory in India. The facility is located close to New Delhi and initially will produce VRV systems and chillers, thereby reducing lead times and allowing products tailored to the local market. The 160,000-m2 facility is scheduled for completion in March 2009.
Increased presence in fast growing Indian market
India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Comfort cooling ownership currently stands at only 2%. In addition, there is high demand for large-scale commercial facilities and projects such as airports.
Thanks to supply via imports, the Daikin brand is already well established in the commercial and luxury market via Daikin subsidiary Daikin Airconditioning India Private Ltd, with sales bases in major cities throughout India. In particular, applied system activities in India profited last year from Daikin’s integration of the Asian OYL Group, especially chiller manufacturer McQuay International.
Local production plus market tailored specifications
The announced new plant will allow the rapidly growing demand for large commercial systems to continue to be met, and addresses a global objective of the Daikin group for local production facilities. To that end, the new plant will also supply the Middle East, Southwest Asia and Africa.
A training centre is also foreseen for the new site covering system installation and commissioning as well as after-sales service.
